There are 6 variables that can affect your skin adversely and as the largest organ of the body, your skin can reveal what is going on in your body - as well as the lifestyle you lead.

Stressed Skin - Set aside time for yourself because too much work and too little relaxation can have a detrimental effect on your skin. Supplementing your diet with vitamin C can help shield your skin from the effects of stress as well as, topical vitamin C, coenzyme Q10 and retinols. Dr. Faucett & our aestheticians can also help alleviate the signs of stress with a series of low-risk, no downtime foto facial treatments to rejuvenate the skin and stimulate collagen production. And if stress has you scowling, Botox injections can be used to relax the muscle movement that causes frowns and facial furrows.

Diet Skin - In an effort to shed pounds; we can wreck havoc on our skin. Fad diets are not amenable to your skin and when faced with a lack of nutrients, the body goes into survival mode thus diverting energy, the prevalence of collagen and cell repair from the skin to internal organs. We have medical grade skin products that will help stimulate collagen and nourish the skin.

Party Skin - Late nites, tobacco, exposure to second - hand cigarette smoke, & alcohol can lead to sluggish dehydrated dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles, dark circles under the eyes, ruddiness and broken blood vessels. Skin care consisting of antioxidants, retinoids, moisturizing both AM & PM, as well as, detoxing masks can have a meassurable effect. Dr. Faucett also recommends dermal fillers; such as, Restylane & Juvederm, for softening lines around the mouth and nasolabial folds. Persistent dark circles under the eyes can also be treated with these fillers to add volume & smooth the lower eyelid area. Botox can also help with those lines and wrinkles.

PMS Skin - Fluctuating hormones drive breakouts by altering the skin's ph and increasing oil production, in turn, encouraging pimples. If PMS breakouts are as regular as your period itself, consider using Jan Marini's benzoyl peroxide or a salicylic acid silk peel (new micrdermabrasion) before your period is due to prevent breakouts. On the plus side, skin is most clear and radiant when ovulating.

Menopausal Skin - Hormone changes related to menopause also affect the skin and at this time of life, signs of aging become more apparent. The loss of moisture and elasticity, deepening lines and wrinkles and hyperpigmentation are all signs of hormonal changes and the inevitable...aging. However, Restylane & Juvederm dermal fillers can be used to restore volume and plump up wrinkles "the liquid lift". Also, facial resurfacing will boost collagen production and aid in turning back the clock. We highly recommend Jan Marini Age Intervention Skin Care Management System to give you a youthful glow, soften lines, wrinkles, and help with skin laxity.

Sun-Damaged Skin - Leathery appearance of sun damage can cause skin to look decades older than its actual age. ALWAYS use a daily sunscreen with an SPF 30. Foto facial skin rejuvenation is the recommended treatment for dryness, scaly spots, discoloration, uneven surface and loss of tightness.

Remember, your skin gets the most exposure to pollutants, therefore a good skin care regimen is essential in protecting your skin against aging.
